Type: RP, HP, SHP, UHP.
Nominal Diamete: 200~550(3TP), 75-800(4TP).
Graphite electrode nipples are crucial components that link different graphite electrode segments, playing a vital role in equipment such as electric arc furnaces used for smelting. During the steel-making process in electric furnaces, the limited length of graphite electrodes necessitates the use of nipples to join multiple electrodes together, meeting the length requirements of the furnace at different depths. When an electrode has worn down to a certain extent and needs replacement, nipples can quickly link a new electrode with the one already in the furnace, minimizing downtime and enabling continuous operation. Graphite electrode nipples optimize hearth performance by ensuring consistent conductivity and minimizing energy loss, thereby enhancing the melting efficiency and productivity of the electric furnace.

—Characteristics Of Graphite Electrode Nipples
Easy to Install and Maintain: The unique nipple design facilitates installation and replacement, reducing downtime during the steelmaking process.
Excellent Chemical Stability: Prevents contamination of steel during production.
High Mechanical Strength: Able to withstand the stress and strain experienced during the operation of the arc furnace.

Compatibility: The graphite electrode nipple must be compatible with the specific model and size of the graphite electrode used in the arc furnace, ensuring a secure and reliable connection (It is advisable to avoid mixing electrodes and nozzles from different manufacturers).
High Thermal and Electrical Conductivity: Effectively transfers heat from the electrode to the furnace charge, maintaining a stable working temperature and promoting uniform heating within the furnace. At the same time, the nipple maintains effective electrical conductivity.
—Graphite Electrode Nipple Instructions
Diameter Selection
The first consideration when choosing a graphite electrode nipple is the diameter of the electrode. This should be determined by the capacity of the furnace and the equipped transformer to ensure that the nipples can withstand the corresponding current load and current density.
Thread Integrity
Before installation, it is important to check whether the threads inside the electrode hole are intact and whether the threads of the nipple match. This ensures that the nipple can be securely and safely screwed into the electrode hole of the graphite electrode.
Avoid Moisture and Impact
Graphite electrodes should be protected from rain, snow, and water during transportation and storage to prevent moisture. If the electrode becomes damp, it should be dried before use. Also, handle with care during loading and unloading to protect the threads and avoid damage due to impact.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Before connecting, clean the threads of the electrode and nipple to ensure a secure connection. Before use, clean the surface of the spare graphite electrode with compressed air to ensure the cleanliness of the electrode and good electrical conductivity. Blow off dust from the end face with compressed air before tightening the electrode. It is not recommended to use metal brushes or emery cloth to clean the threads to avoid damage.
Proper Installation Method
When installing the nipple, carefully screw it into one end of the electrode, avoiding direct replacement of the electrode on the furnace to prevent thread damage or potential safety hazards. Maintain alignment of the central line when joining electrodes. The electrode holder should clamp outside the two warning lines at the nipple linkage part.
